After the success of the first edition of the European Maker Faire which saw 35,000 visitors,250 exhibitors and 3000 inventions over the four days of the event , the largest European exhibition of projects related to creativity and digital manufacturing is ready for its second year and is thinking big.
The Innovation Week – Maker Faire Rome has the ambition to become the great world event of the third industrial revolution seen through the eyes of made in Italy and to make Rome a great protagonist in the game of innovation as was the case for Barcelona with the Mobile World Congress, Berlin with “AIFA”, Paris with “The Web” and London with “TechCrunch Disrupt”.
To mark this change of pace the program for 2014 will be enriched by supplementary exhibitions, a vertical hackathon to develop products / services for SMEs (from manufacturing to trade including agriculture and handicrafts), a special Kids area (Digital Educational) and a Workshop / Educational Business area.
Moreover, among the innovations, vertical sections devoted to valuing some assets of the economy, particularly food and fashion, are expected, as well as conferences, workshops and networking events dedicated to Open Source Hardware (Arduino, Rasberry Pi, Licensing), Social Innovation (Crowdfunding, Social Impact Bonds), Maker City and Sharing Economy / OpenEconomy (Collaborative Business – new multilinear business models, collaborative platforms for the economy: tourism, mobility, e-commerce, cross-fertilisation of business).
